About Us

Almost Heaven Recovery and Sober Living

Founded by Makenzie Ward, Almost Heaven Recovery and Sober Living was created from a place of faith, perseverance, and personal experience. As the daughter of two parents who overcame addiction, Makenzie witnessed firsthand the power of recovery and the strength it takes to rebuild a life from the ground up.

Today, both of her parents have been clean for over nine years, and their journey stands as living proof that healing is possible. Inspired by their example, Makenzie felt called to dedicate her life to helping others walk the same path — toward freedom, stability, and renewed purpose.

Our Mission

At Almost Heaven Recovery and Sober Living, our mission is to provide safe, structured, and compassionate housing for individuals seeking lasting recovery. Each resident will be supported through 24/7 supervision, daily program hours, and a strong sense of accountability and community.

We believe that recovery thrives in an environment of consistency and care. That’s why our homes are non-smoking, fully supervised, and staffed around the clock to ensure safety and stability for every resident. Makenzie’s father, who understands recovery from the inside out, helps oversee daily operations to keep the program focused, responsible, and effective.

In time, Almost Heaven plans to expand its reach by developing an adolescent recovery program—offering hope, education, and emotional support to young people before addiction can take hold.

Our Vision

Our vision is to build a community where individuals in recovery are empowered to live with purpose, integrity, and hope. We strive to restore families, strengthen futures, and create a ripple effect of healing that transforms not just lives—but entire communities across West Virginia.

Our Belief

We believe in second chances, in the beauty of redemption, and in the truth that no one is beyond recovery. Every day, we stand as a reminder that healing is real, families can reunite, and recovery changes everything.
